Cogent Seating Ltd was established in April 1996 in Swansea West Business Park, Swansea where we assembled passenger seating. This part of our business has grown successfully and we now design, test, manufacture and assemble a wide spectrum of seating products.
However since its beginnings Cogent has grown in to much more than just a seating company.
Conversions
In 2005 after a MBO by Roger & Pauline Pownall, Cogent started a new division converting and re-seating coaches into high capacity school transport and designed seats that would enable vehicles to carry 70+ passengers in comfort.
PSVAR
In 2019 Cogent were one of the few companies who began converting coaches to PSVAR regulations for accessible transport and are working closely with DVSA to implement this regulation.
Test Facility
In 2011 they installed a crash test facility, RBP Dynamic, allowing them to research and develop new products for themselves and for their customers. This has been expanded in 2019 to offer the ability to test to additional regulations.
Tilt Testing
In 2020 Cogent installed a tilt test facility giving them the ability to tilt and test vehicles to European standards
R&D
Cogent has its own R&D team who are on hand to constantly keep abreast of legislation, materials and processes as well developing new products.
Expansion
With Cogent's ever-growing international customer base they moved premises in July 2019, to Westfield Industrial Park, Swansea.

This facility houses the vastly expanded Cogent Seating with its crash test facilities, tilt test facilities, conversion facility and not forgetting the core of our business - the seating expertise developed over the last 25 years - making Cogent your ideal partner for any Seating or Testing requirements you may have.
